The Valley of a 1000 Hills forms around the majestic valley created by the Mngeni River and it’s tributaries. A magnificent gorge between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, the Valley of 1 000 Hills is about more than its spectacular greenery and the clear blue of the African sky.

The Umgeni flows all the way from the mammoth Drakensberg to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Get to see all the views as we drop down past iSithumba Mountain, over Marion Marion Foley Bridge (The half way point in the Iconic Dusi Canoe Marathon) We stop for a refreshment and some pictures at the incredible Slide rapid just below the confluence of the Dusi and Umgeni rivers.

We then climb to the top of the Valley of 1000 Hills enjoying all the sights and smells the Valley has to offer. The abundance bird life as the Yellow-billed kite’s sore the thermals just above us. From the top you will look over both Nagle and Inanda Dams. We then go and stop at the splendid Toleni Falls.

We then drive down to the mighty Mqeku River that we cross 9 times on our way to Sibusiso Shangase’s picturesque Mqeku River Picnic Site.

At the picnic site you can chose to bring in caterers to have your lunch waiting for you on arrival or choose to Braai or Picnic. At the picnic site Sibusiso offers swimming and tubing in the river as well as Hiking tours.
